What if you realise, just before turning 40, that you don’t hold any of the reins of your life?

At 37, Vicente realises that he hasn’t gone very far in life: he still lives at home with his mother and works in the family business, a stationery shop he had to take over when his father died. His ex-girlfriend has better things to do than get back together with him, and his best friend seems happily ensconced in a permanent, unbreakable immaturity.

A domestic accident that leaves his mother convalescing gives Vicente the chance to reconsider his future. At what point did he abandon the dreams he held as a young man? Is it too late to start afresh? Why should each day be the same as the day before? Vicente will decide that he’s had enough, and is therefore willing to make the most foolish decisions possible in the areas that worry him the most: love, family and work.
