 After the Pequod is sunk and with the rest of the crew dead, Ishmael manages to stay alive in the midst of the ocean, sheltering in Queequeg's coffin until another ship rescues him. Thus ends the immortal Moby Dick, and thus begins Després del naufragi. 

 Ishmael is rescued by the tuna fishing boat Lònia, a ship whose crew is split into two factions by the conflict between the captain and his first mate. However, the mere mention of Moby Dick is enough to make the two adversaries change their plans and focus on the search for the white whale in order to win over the crew, who are excited by the idea of hunting the legendary creature. So much to his dismay Ishmael finds himself once again caught up in a frenetic chase, this time helped by a mysterious harpooner whose fierce facade hides a courageous woman with whom he will fall hopelessly in love.

 Després del naufragi is a thrilling adventure story that revisits the legend of the white whale to warn of the dangers of utopias and reckless revolutions, and of how the personal ambition of an irresponsible leader can lead an entire community to a tragic fate.
