La guerra dins la guerra dissects, with lucidity and irony, the current —and perhaps eternal— conflicts of Catalan society.

Two writers from Barcelona —one who writes in Catalan, the other in Spanish— clash over literature, politics, and love. Their rivalry reaches a boiling point when they become entangled in a triangle with a young Québécoise, as intrigued by their feud as by the men themselves. This war unfolds on a broader stage: a Barcelona in flux and a Catalonia weakened by the divisions within the Catalan nationalist movement. Today's fracture echoes a past episode that the Catalan-writing author explores in the novel he’s working on: the May Days of 1937, when anarchists and communists fought each other in the streets of Barcelona, forgetting the threat of Franco’s troops.
