De Natura Florum was first published on April 3, 1971, in the newspaper Jornal do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro, and later included in the 1984 volume A Descoberta do Mundo. The text, conceived as a kind of prose herbarium, is structured around twenty-four entries: the first five are general botanical definitions, while the remaining nineteen are descriptions of flowers, each rendered with a singular poetic touch.
In 2020, the centenary of Clarice Lispector’s birth was celebrated. To mark this occasion, Elena Odriozola, recipient of Spain’s National Illustration Award, and Alejandro G. Schnetzer prepared this essential book.
