Ernest, a successful advertiser and enthusiast of life's pleasures, is sailing his yacht between the islands of Patmos and Icaria in the company of his seven-year-old son, Marc, his partner, Sophie, and little Max, Sophie’s son. The sea is rough. As the sun begins to set, the boat collides with the remains of a shipwreck and Marc falls into the water. This is how the story begins.
The reader will follow the father's desperate search, his guilt, and the crisis that pushes him to the brink of madness. In parallel, they will follow the adventure of his son, who on the very night of the accident is rescued by a dinghy filled with families from Syria and Afghanistan trying to reach the shores of Samos. Unbeknownst to anyone, little Marc will experience the uncertain journey of the refugees.
