An irreverent chronicle of the Cuban Revolution and its struggle with Yankee imperialism, written by one of the sharpest observers of the time.

In his unmistakable style, Jorge Ibargüengoitia recounts his impressions of the Cuban Revolution and the cultural Cold War in this book, which brings together unpublished texts, correspondence and original versions of chronicles, thus offering a unique critical perspective on a defining moment in history. This volume includes the complete version of Revolución en el jardín (Revolution in the Garden) , in which the author ironically describes his time in Cuba after winning the Casa de las Américas Prize twice (1963 and 1964), and his discrepancies with the island's political developments. It also includes  Los compañeros de viaje (The Traveling Companions), which recounts his participation in a symposium funded by the United States, and other pieces that draw on humour and satire to portray the ideological disputes surrounding Latin American intellectuals at that time.

This work chronicles a key stage in Ibargüengoitia's professional life: his transformation from a little-known writer in Mexico to an international figure, who never abandoned his sceptical, sardonic perspective, capable of turning politics and literary prestige into comedy. It features a foreword by Juan Villoro and an epilogue by Jorge Fornet, and with Maria Cristina Secci responsible for the compilation, introduction and edition of the previously unpublished texts.
