Cuadernos de Temuco

Cuadernos de Temuco / Temuco Notebooks

Poetry , 1996

Austral

The discovery of the Temuco Notebooks, auctioned at Sotheby’s in the 1980s and unpublished until 1997, is an event of universal significance. These youthful poems contain much of the mystery that would later expand throughout his celebrated work. Marked by an astonishing lyrical intensity and an overflowing vitality, where the modernist legacy merges with the expressive discoveries of the avant-garde, these early verses not only foreshadow Crepusculario and Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair but also serve the irreplaceable function of illuminating the great Chilean poet’s maturity through the lens of his origins. Edition prepared by Víctor Farías.
