Clara Usón has been shortlisted for the 2026 Lattes Grinzane Prize, one of Italy’s most prominent literary awards, which each year recognises outstanding works of international fiction.
Her novel Las fieras (Le belve), published in Italy by Sellerio, has been selected as part of an international shortlist alongside authors such as Mathias Enard, Andrew Porter, Julia Deck and Andrew Miller.
Since its publication in Italy, Le belve has met with a particularly strong reception, attracting significant media attention and being widely praised by both critics and readers. This response confirms the novel’s ability to resonate across different cultural contexts and further strengthens Clara Usón’s international profile.
This year’s Special Prize has been awarded to Amitav Ghosh, widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary world literature.
The winner will be announced on October 17 in Alba, during an event that will bring together the shortlisted authors and a jury of young readers from schools across Italy, who play an active role in selecting the final winner.
