Rosa Montero has been honored with the 45th edition of the Giovanni Boccaccio Literary Prize for Literature, an award promoted by the Associazione Letteraria Giovanni Boccaccio with the support of the Certaldo City Council and the Tuscany Region.
The jury has applauded the author's career "for the contribution offered to contemporary literature and for the ability to narrate the complexity of the present through intense, lucid, and deeply human writing," further highlighting her position as one of the most authoritative voices on the European cultural scene.
Born in 1982 with the aim of translating the message of the great 14th-century author to the present, the Boccaccio Prize conceives reading, storytelling, and cultural debate as indispensable tools for reflection and civic growth.
The official award ceremony will take place next Saturday, September 12, at the Teatro Multisala Boccaccio in Certaldo, Florence.
